FVR

Token Electronics FVR series consists of a C-shaped ceramic rod wound with copper or chromium-alloy wire, which serves as the resistive element. Except for the sliding contact surface, the entire component is coated with a high-temperature-resistant, non-flammable resin. After cooling and drying, an insulating layer is applied using a high-temperature process. A centrally mounted rotating adjuster is then installed; it slides along the resistive element and adjusts the resistance to the desired value. The variable resistor FVR can be used as a power rheostat with two connections (the wiper and one end of the track), or as a potentiometer when all three terminals are employed. FVR units can be used to control electric ovens and cooktops, although thermostats are generally preferred because they include additional components that automatically regulate the current flow to maintain a constant temperature. Motor controllers also use the FVR Series as rheostats or potentiometers to regulate motor speed by limiting the current flowing through them. FVR range of applications also includes educational models, load simulations, industrial machinery RPM adjustment, voltage and current regulation, measuring instruments, and automated control systems.
